I have an Apeks Quantum, aka, Dive-Rite NiTek Duo. I find the strap to be difficult to use wearing 5 mm gloves and it doesn't work well on a drysuit sleeve. Has anyone tried the Dive-Rite "Depth-Compensating Wrist Strap "? Does this strap fit the computer well? Is it velcro? Is it easy to put on with gloves? Any comments will be appreciated.

Two words!!!

Bungie Cord!

I got tired of always trying to get my computer's on my wrist with the bands they come with (I dive with an Oceanic Datatrans Plus and a Suunto D3) so I found some thin bungie cord and made my own straps.. Now they slip on and compensate for depth! Although not quite a perty as a nice band, the bungie method is a heck of a lot more functional and costs next to nothing!

I have a TUSA IQ-700 which I took the factory wrist strap off because it didn't fit me well (I have skinny wrists) and I substituted the Dive Rite NiTek Duo strap instead. It's worked great for me. It's not velcro - it's more like strech nylon like the covering of a wetsuit. The only difference about the Duo cinch strap and the NiTek3 / NiTek He cinch strap is an extra adaptor piece that goes under the pins on the Duo / IQ-700 / Quantum / Archimede. And, with the cinch strap kit, if one pin failed, the rig doesn't all fall off your wrist.

I ordered my Duo cinch strap from Dive Rite Express, but after it arrived I realized I also could have ordered it from Scubatoys, as they're authorized Dive Rite dealers.

I have a Tusa IQ 700 and use the Dive Rite strap. I think that it is more comfortable than the bungies on my compass or BT - at least when diving wet. As mentioned above, the adapter strap that goes under the pins adds some redundancy and it also makes the strap easier to remove for convenient uploading.

Is there any chance you could post a digital photo of the strap? I can't quite picture what you mean.

Not in any reasonable time frame - everything's being packed for our 1500 or so mile move! The photo(?) graphic on the DR & DRE web pages aren't very good, the whole wrist-wrapping portion of the strap is elastic (but not the adaptor), and none show any pic or graphic of this adaptor strap. The DR manual for this strap apparently isn't available on line, or else you could just peek at that document. Maybe DRE can send a pdf file of the manual?

Basically, it's a short piece of webbing, with plastic slots sewn to the ends. You place the short piece of webbing against the back of the computer, and then put the pins back in over the short piece of webbing. Then, you install the strap that goes around your wrist in the plastic loops that are sewn into the short piece of webbing - the plastic loops sit just past the pins.
