I am in the thoughts of buying a BCD and is leaning towards the BP/Wing setup with a single tank. The LDS where I gpt certified only carries Dive rite wings, so my question is: Do anybody dive with a Dive rite BP/Wing setup and a single tank?

I will go out and do some test dives before I decide, but I would appreciate any advice I can get on this board.

Yup! I've seen a lot of people use Dive Rite for Single tank setups. :)

Their Travel Wings are the smallest 30# I've seen so far! :)

Although I'm a Halcyon guy, and would highly recommend Halcyon above the others... there's nothing wrong at all with the other BP/wing brands... it's just my personal preference. :)

If you must get a dive rite wing, go for the travel wing. I have the trek wing and before I started using it for my doubles I used it for single tank and it was a nightmare. Its really best that you buy a wing that was specifically designed for single tank use such and the Halcyon Pioneer wings or the new Oxycheq wings.

That's what I suspected. But I will go and try the trek wing with single tank and see for myself. Otherwise it will be a Halcyon eclipse, I think.

But like I said it was a nightmare. If you leave the bungees on you get trapped air, not very streamlined, etc and if you remove the bungees you get the angel flapping in the current taco tank effect. But try both and see which you like better.

Did any Cuttlefish try to mate with you :D

At DEMA I saw a new Dive Rite wing designed for single tanks. It did however have an odd squarish profile. There may be some info about it elsewhere on the board.

I dive with a Dive Rite Rec Wing and a Fred T. heavy short plate and heavy STA.

I have dove with many different BCs. I have not dove with any other BP/wing setup but all I can say is WOW!!

I have none of the effects that are listed(as far as I can tell):

1.Taco effect-NONE, and I LOVE tacos!
2. Air trapping. Rec wing vents like a demon. I had a BC that from the time I got in the water to the time I exited all I did was vent gas.......air that is very, very slowly. By the time I got all the air out the dive was over!
3.Face down push. I can't figure this one out. At the surface, with the wing fully inflated, my chin is about a foot out of the water and there is no face down push! And U/W I am perfectly horizontal.

I think I've stummbled upon the perfect BC! and it wasn't too expensive.

The new Dive Rite Venture wing looks a lot like a smaller Rec wing.

Again, my setup has been a dream. The only think I don't like are the ScubaPro tank bands. They maybe more secure but cam bands are easier to place a tank in.

I not only highly recommend this arrangement to everyone it's the only setup I recommend if you dive mostly singles but are interested in doubles.

I really look forward to using my setup in Cozumel in about 17 days 8 hours and 45 minutes.

Hello -

Back in the day I purchased a DR Trek wing to use with single tanks. At the time I was using a Halcyon 55# wing with singles. My buddy purchased a Trek as well.

The trek is a lot better for single tanks than the big halcyon.

However, it is still really big. I have since moved to a Halcyon pioneer for my singles. My buddy has also moved over to a Pioneer. I feel that this is a much better configuration.

One thing to look out for is that the Trek is probably a little small for big steel doubles. My Halcyon 55# is right on the edge when I have a full load of gear and stages with my 104s.

If I were to do it again I would purchase a dedicated single tank wing first and then a doubles wing later.

Peter
