Looking at Wakatobi this summer and want to maximize time over there. Are there any worthwhile resorts on Bali that we could do some more diving on? Or will they be a step down after Wakatobi? Any ideas on what to do on Bali would be appreciated...thanks in advance!

Wakatobi's gonna be hard to beat! :D

There are several dive locations around Bali and as such, most divers tend to choose from 2 options: a Dive Safari (where the dive operator will take you to various locations around the island, and you'll probably spend a night at each location), or just base yourself at one of these locations and check out the dive sites there. If you prefer the latter, Tulamben's a popular choice.

Hope this helps!

Hi BellesMom
Wakatobi is fantastic, but so is Bali. At Tulamben there is a WWII American shipwreck dripping with soft corals & gorgonia's, a drop-off with exotic marine life wherever you look, a Coral Garden with the tamest fish in Indonesia and a Muck Dive that equals Lembeh Strait - And all of these (and more) are shore dives.
Don't think just because Bali has tourists that the diving isn't good, up on the north-east coast near Tulamben, we are discovering new dive sites all the time.
Check out our website for information on the dive sites
