Another point to consider when it comes to booking boat charters -- almost all the boats have a minimum number of paying customers require in order to go out. For some it's as high as 6-8, others as low as 2-3. If you wait until the last minute to book your charter, you may find they've already rescheduled the next day's charter due to insufficient bookings.

Good Point!! It's not easy running a dive op in Hawaii. I have many friends who own boats and the overhead is unbelievable! Advance booking is just a smart way to plan your trip. Diving is really cool and you wouldn't want to miss it if you were only going to be here for a short visit.
 
After a bit of discussion we are going to book some dives for the first two days of our trip, then book the rest once we get there. Thanks for your help everyone. Perhaps we'll see you out there!
