Dive 2094 Thursday Kings Beach Newport, RI - buddy @DanSinks
It was a windless overcast day. The ocean was like a mill pond, no chop, no swells. Air temp high 70's water surface temp 75F temp at max depth 30FSW 71F visibility a clear 15' with very little suspended stuff. Current was present even though by that time it should have been slack. We got out of the way of the current after a short time and continued to look at the large amounts of fish. I spotted a big tog, big enough to take anyway, and a black sea bass swimming fast back and forth in front of an overhang in the rocks. Also bait balls were spotted while diving and later from the shore as predators from below and above worked the ball. If the striped bass and blues aren't running now its because they gave up on life!
A very good intro dive with a new buddy who is also an old lobster diver from the 1980's, that took the time trouble to come a long way to meet up and dive a new him spot. Thanks @DanSinks had a good time, hope to dive with you again soon!
