Went out on the Sundiver Express yesterday. Only 8 divers on board which is common for midweek (great time to get out). Everyone was aboard and signed waivers pretty quickly so we headed out.
Given the amazing conditions during the crossing, it appeared we were going to have a bit of extra time. So the first dive site was the less-often visited little farnsworth. I love this site. Lots of big lobster and a huge sheephead crab. Only 4 of us even did this dive, though.
Then, to our surprise, captain kyaa decided to take us around the back to see what it looked like. Another surprise: glass like surface with incredible visibility below!! You could see the kelp 40 feet below the surface easily. I'd say the horizontal visibility was at least 30+ ft. So we did two dives on the back side of the island at a couple different sites (don't recall names).
We head around front thinking we're heading home after a delicious korean bbq pork lunch (thanks chris marcos). But wait, there's more!! That crazy captain realized we were ahead of schedule and stops for one more dive! I think it was called K20 but not sure.
So, flat surface conditions, sun and great visibility all day. Gotta say, yesterday did not suck! Thanks again to the Sundiver Express crew. Gotta love an operation that doesn't mind spending a little extra gas for the best diving rather than the same old sites that are closest to them.
