Default Dive Report - Aumentos/Erics Pinnacle - 12/01/07
Woke up waaaaayyy to early for a 0700 departure on the Escapade. The morning air was frosty and brisk. And with a light load of divers from ADT in Pittsburgh we were off to try to beat the changing weather.
Capt Jim's Otter friends came by for a visit
We were optimistic about making it out of the bay... unfortunately it wasn't meant to be.
First stop was Aumentos... The swell wasn't bad and jellies were visable from topside. I buddied up with Joel and jumped in.... Vis opened up to 30-ish on the bottom and very cold... Not much swell on the bottom but enough to make taking pictures harder (not that I'm a pro like Robert).
Dive 1: Aumentos
Max Depth: 70
Dive time: 50
Gas: 32%
Vis: 30
Lot's of sea nettles all over the place
The water was clear but felt a lot colder than the 50 degrees it was reading on my gauge
After surfacing we found the Express parked right next to us....
Surface interval was rough (not from the swell but more because of the cold)... wind was a little brisk and with no sun to warm us up everybody was glad we were in drysuits.
The Silver Prince was on Eric's so we swapped places with them and checked it out. Same story here with jellies all around. The vis dropped a little to about 15 ish... lot's or particles in the water... The same characters here... lot's of lemon nudi's and crabs.... a nice school of blue rockfish near the top.
Dive 2: Eric's Pinnacle
Max Depth: 40
Dive time: 30
Gas: 32"%
Joelle (spelling?) Found a nice wolf eel who was pretty cooperative... but with no camera skills even the best model get's bored and throws a tantrum
Over all great day of diving... just a little bit on the cold side....
Anyone got a 400 gram for sale?
PS: Still cannot get my pictures to work with SB... Here's the high def version:
