Hi;

I'm going to Roatan for the first time Mar 10-17, and looking for dive op recommendations, as well as advice about a place to stay. I want to stay in the West End, within walking distance to some restaurants; some of the cabanas I've seen advertised look pretty interesting. Ideally I'd like to find a quiet, not luxurious but clean, inexpensive place to stay. I'm a fairly experienced diver, used to Cozumel but wanted to try a new spot this time.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Matt

Power has been i little irregular here on Roatan recently, although it seems to be better now - you never know!

With that in mind I would find accomodation and a dive op that have there own Generator - all the compressors need electricity around here. I know that Coconut Tree and Pura vida have generators capable of powering their compressors, not sure about the other ops.

As for accommodation with generators - Coconut Tree Cabins and pura vida do. I am not sure about arco iris - if they do they are my favourite.

Listen to Will (we do).

Coconut Tree is the place to dive with if you're in West End. That's not to say there aren't other good dive ops there.... just that Coconut Tree has good equipment, a nice boat (soon to be two nice boats), and the best people.

As for a place to stay - you might want to check out Posada Arco Iris. Coconut Tree Cabins is a good deal - it's $499 per diver for the cabin and all you can dive (4 boat dives per day, one night dive per week included). Not a bad deal if you ask me.

I booked one of the Coconut tree cabins and will be diving with them. Thanks!

I'll be watching this space on March 18th for a full trip report :D

Have a great time in Roatan!
