My thinking is as follows:

Pros:
Easier to find the switch

Less likely to be activated by accident



Cons:
Limitations on where to mount the switch (you need a light head handle large enough)

Sealing the switch may be harder if you mount it through the side of the handle due to the handle curvature.

If the light head floods (which is more likely than the canister IMO), the switch/wiring may short out and totally drain + possibly damage your batteries


My dive buddy is currently building a light similar to mine but with the switch in the handle. Once he's completed it I'll post details on
