I'll be in Coz end of this month. I booked an AI which includes 10 boat dives and unlimited shore dives w/ Dive House (the operation associated w/ Fiesta Americana).

Question: Anyone w/ experience, good/bad, with Dive House? Esp:

- How are dive sites selected (or are they pre-selected each day)?
- How long were your dives? Do they let divers up progressively based on psi, or does everyone surface together?
- Do they store your gear? Clean your gear?
- Anything else I should know about DH?

Hey, thanks!

(I dove ScubaDu in December. Experience was so-so. They had good boats, did an excellent job of letting people remain down based on air (sending others up with a reel and safety sausage). However, it was crowded with 8+ divers per dm, they have a set schedule of sites (i.e. Monday=palancar Bricks, Tuesday=Tormentos, Wed=etc.) Also, we got caught in a pretty nasty storm and things got dangerous very quickly; I don't think the DMs did a particulary good job in the storm; tho no real blunders were made either)

Dive House is very similar to Scua-Du. Larger resort type operation, but very professional. They run large boats (10 to 20ish per boat). I don't recall whether they have a set dive site schedule or if sites are selected the day of the dive; but on a boat with that many people, I imagine your site options will be somwhat limited. I believe they have predetermined bottom times as well, but I could be wrong.

If you do a search on Dive House, you will find several recent reports from people who have dove with them.

Have a great vacation.

I just got back from Coz. Stayed at FA. Dove with Christy's Blue XT Sea, Deep Blue, and Dive House.

BXTS is the best. Christy's level of service is unsurpassed. I have been home for 2 weeks, and she is still helping me and emailing me daily.

The Deep Blue boat and the BXTS boat are virtually the same. Small and fast. 4 divers with BXTS, 5 with Deep Blue. The difference is in the fresh water shower, the fluffy towels, the great SI snack, all offered only with BXTS.

I enjoyed the dives with DiveHouse. BXTS was booked, and it was easy to set up a last minute dive(1 hour before), with DiveHouse. That flexibility is worth something.
The trade off is: much slower boats, variety of diver abilities, and personal service. We were still able to dive our own plan. The DM will stay with the last divers to surface.
Our smallest group was 6, and our largest was 12 with 2 DMs.

The DM's were great, but they were forced to swim around and keep the large groups on track, vs exploring and pointing out really cool stuff like Javier did with BXTS and Hector did with Deep Blue!
All dives were diver's choice, but you better have the exact dives and a convincing reason for them all planned out before you get on the boat. You have to convince the other divers, who are usually pretty convincable, but you can never make everyone happy!
With DiveHouse, bring your own towel and snack. They will provide bottled water and cokes.
I dove with Blue Angel last year, and was not happy with them. Thats another story.
Best of luck!

Dove with Dive House two weeks ago (with son and daughter). Professional operation. Computers dive their own computer. Non-computers dive the tables. Divers vote on which dives to do and dive master only intervenes if conditions are going to be bad.

We got to dive all of the sites that we wanted. SI's were on the boat with water and pop.

DD--I think we may have been on the boat together one day?

Yes Rich,
I did 2 dives on the 16th, 2 on the 17th, and a night dive on the 18th with DiveHouse.

The 16th was Palancar Gardens and Chankanaab Bolones
The 17th was Santa Rosa Wall and Paradise reef.
The 18th...night dive was Chankanaab.

Jessica was my buddy on the 16th.
Ken from Wisconsin was buddied with me on 17th. We also hung aroun with Sam and Mike from Aspen, Colorado. Jessica was my buddy again for the night dive.

We dove with Deep Blue the day of the 18th, and Blue XTSea on the 19th, and some shore dives.

Anything ring a bell?
