I mentioned to the dentist your points above and he pretty much ignored them.....didn't seem to be interested to be honest.

But now I have to have a crown done. He will be drilling out the tooth on Thursday and then fitting the crown about 2 weeks later. I was aiming to dive on Sunday, is it going to be a problem diving during this interim period ?

The temporary crown could be an aspiration hazard. They are called a temporary for a reason...they are meant to come off.

I think it would be prudent to skip the dive this one time. I know it's hard but if you aspirate the temporary, it could be your last dive:)
