Lake Travis - Jungle Gym w/ Lake Travis Scuba
Air Temp: Warm 70's, very nice sunny day
Surface Temp: 57f
Depth Temp: 51f at Max 127'
Vis: 8-10 feet avg when we were not silted up ;-)
Lake Level: 681'msl = FULL POOL

K-valve & I went to Jungle Gym again w/ Lake Travis Scuba to run new line from the Skeleton tree to JG to Big Pine to Grottos and tied off above the ledge. Next step will be to remove the old line and add attitional line b/w the two downlines thus completeing a circuit.

Water temps are continuing to spread from surface to depth and the thermoclines are slowly forming. I expect peak vis to be once the greatest spread in temps occurs b/w surface and depth before the summer sun causes the algae blooms. This usually occurs b/w March & May depending on Lake Depth ;) This time last year Lake Travis was 28' low; Now we are at FULL POOL.

Best vis I've seen at Lake Travis was two years ago in April, 30-40 foot visibility! Here's the report: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/texas-swamp-divers/228157-lake-travis-trip-report.html
I'm praying to see it again this year:praying:

Robert took a few pics w/ the DIMWIT flag flying proud! :D

Spring Lake San Marcos
April 1, 2010

Temp, same
Vis, 50' but 'cloudy'
Spring Flow, 200cfs+

John, Pete and me were joined by Taylor (Aquarena staff) for our Thursday morning dive. Aaron had us clearing a path from Catfish Hotel to Arch Site. The vis was good but there seemed to be a cloudiness in the water. Aaron noted the same thing yesterday. There seems to be a die off of the Coontail occurring and that may explain the change.

Blue Lagoon, Huntsville
Apil 3, 2010

Water temp 63
Vis 15-20 ft

Shallows are warming very quickly.

Stillhouse Hollow - 04/03/2010 @ 11:00AM
Scuba Park near the PavillionSurface Temp - 64 degrees
Max Depth - 49 ft. at the water plant. Temps in the mid 50's. Viz was outstanding, 12 to 15 ft. Heavy silt at the plant. Becomes zero viz real quick if not careful.
Ran a line (550 cord) from the platform at 18 ft. directly to the water plant. (Approx distance of 500 ft) The straight shot saves air. You still have the option of following the old line from the platform to the boat at 30 ft and then continue from the boat to the water plant.

Very nice PC weather, got into high 70's but started with a cool 48f. Not a ton of folk's out but more than previous 'chilly water' trips out this year.

1. 35ffw,,49f,,68 minutes,,this was a 6 tank trek--3 on the back (2 steel doubles and Al13cf Argon bottle standard for me in dry suit diving-usually use air, at $1.00 cf for HP Argon.), and 3 slung deco-stage bottles (practice).
2. 36ffw,,49f,,55 minutes,,3 tanks on back, sling tanks stayed on shore.

The upper several feet of water in the 50's,, thermo trying to form at around 25-28ffw. Vis has declined , but still not bad.

Dive World Scuba from San Antonio brought 13 divers for a fun dive on Saturday and Sunday.

Lake Temps:
Surface - 58*
Depth - 52* (110')
Vis - varied by site, average 8' - 12'
Sites: Oasis Wall, Shaker Plant, Wreck Alley, Starnes Island

Diver experience varied from newly certified divers to advanced experience. Leslie and Lacey were the new divers and did a great job at Starnes Island and Oasis Wall. Divers reported the lines were helpful in navigating Shaker Plant and Wreck Alley.

We heard a boat in the distant fog Sunday morning but made no sighting, believe it was Don Brod taking the Boatel for early morning spin on the lake. :dontknow:

CSSP, Terrell TX
Water Temp Surface: 62 F
Water Temp at Depth (60 feet): 49 F
Viz up to 30 feet
74 minute dive

Started my dive at the dock by Dive Training Center pavilion. Navigated to a couple platforms, both boats, then went to the silos for a depth reading of 60 feet on the bottom. Good viz, could see one silo from the other. Not too many fish out yet, lots of babies though. Also quite a few puff balls of algae, some 3 feet across. These melt away when you touch them, like cotton candy on wet hands. I was the only diver there until later in the afternoon.

Lake level is the highest I've seen it :)
