Lake Travis, Mansfield Dam
Divers – paulw
Air Temp - 100
Water Temp @ Surface – 85
Water Temp @ 65 - 79
Max Depth - 65'
Vis to 30' - 3 to5'
Vis 30' to 65' - 8 to 15'
Dive Time - 58 min

The walk down the stairs and down to the water is really long and steep, this was my first time to dive here in months and man does it look different. The vis was really pretty nice in most places, up to 15'. I saw several really large fish, several big bass and one was at least a 10 pounder and down by the dam there was a very large catfish that was every bit of four feet long. It was a nice dive.

Lake Travis, Bob Wentz Windy Point

Air Temp - 89
Water Temp @ Surface –77
Water Temp @ 77
Max Depth - 75'
Vis to 30' - 1'
Vis 30' to 65' - 3-4'
Dive Time - 58 min

The viz was really GREAT...
OK really it was total crap, we aren't called swamp divers for nothin! The best vis was at about 35 to 50' and it wasn't good, maybe 4' and below 65 it was 1 to 2'. The wind was blowing hard causing a lot of waves and that just didn't help. I found the top line cut in several places, I repaired three cuts and put a rope I found in place of one section that I will replace later.

Bob Wentz Park
Air temp: upper 60s
Water temp: surface 78 degrees, 113 feet 57 degrees
Visibility: 2-3 feet from surface to 60 feet, braille diving from 60-90 feet (Zero!), Murky 2 feet and VERY dark from 90-113
Cold thermocline at 90 feet.
Max depth: 113 (that is the deepest I found) Dive time: 45 minutes including 14 minutes deco
Not great vis down to 60 feet, then I had to have my canister light and computer at my faceplate to read the screen from 60-90 feet. I thought it would open up below 90 feet, but only to a couple of feet and very dark.

Vis to 15' - 3'
Vis 30' to 55' - 3-6'
Dive Time - 55 min

Really nice dive with a lot of fish moving around. With the vis averaging about 4' I dove "small", I just stayed close to the wall and looked at a tight areas. I found what looks like part of an "A-Frame" like I have seen in pictures of the Dam being built, it is laying down and half burred. The lake level continues to drop along with the temp and after 55 minutes in 72 deg water I was cold, it looks like it is time for a heavy hood and gloves.

Did 2 good dives at Terrell yesterday, each 2 hours and a few minutes. Viz is improved from last weekend. Pitch black below thermocline; light penetrated 5 inches.
