Hey

Im looking to buy a new dive computer, i want something that isnt too clumpy and thts reasonably priced, i have looked at the mares nemo but would like some more suggestions if anybody has any
thanks

I have the Oceanic VEO180NX It is easy to use, it is nitrox compatible.
Not to costly around $200.00(us) It is also metric or imperial
I beleave the prisent version is the VEO200 or VEO100NX

I started out with an inexpensive computer, but immediately wished I had paid for the extra features. I currently dive the Suunto D9. It's a little more expensive, but it literally does everything in a really small package. Here's more information on it if you're interested: Suunto "D9" Hoseless Air/Nitrox Wrist Computer with Transmitter

Depends on what you want the computer to do.....

If it is just to calculate real time NDL based on air or Nitrox....which is what 90% of what most divers want it to do...then any decent brand name will work great......you just need to determine which deco algorithm is OK for you......conservative or less conservative......

If you want downloadable, multi gas, tec, wireless air integrated, lots of alarms and warnings, buddy check, digital compass, OLED display, etc....then you will spend $$$$

Just remember that none of these improve or increase the accuracy the fundamental NDL calculation.....which is the primary purpose of a dive computer........

A $250 Sunnto Gekko from LeisurePro will give you the same NDL as a $1,400 Sunnto D9, the D9 is just waaaayyyyy cooler......

I have D9 envy but I dive cheaper older computers Gekko's and Vyper's.......

Anyone have any info or opinion on the Suunto Zoop? I got a price from my local dive shop of $235. I think it comes with dive management software but not a computer cable and handles Nitrox.

We own some Gekko's and Vyper's...we love them....

The cable is $100...so not cheap.......

Downloading is nice but the novelty only lasts for a bit of time, unless you do it and log each and every dive, which ends for most after about 200 dives............

$235 is a great price......go for it........:D

It depends if you like the Suunto algorithm and what you typical buddies use.

It is very conservative and if your buddies use a less conservative computer, then you will be cutting the all the dives short. You can't back it off.

If you choose a more liberal computer (Oceanic / Aeris / etc) then you can always manually choose to run more conservative (dive nitrox on air settings or just simply keep the nitrogen graph in the green instead of the yellow). This tends to be more flexible.
