I am looking for a few divers to hit the John D. Gill and the Hyde on Wednesday, August 31st. Since my dive buddies and I all work weekends, it has been a royal PITA to find a charter during the week. The last 5+ dives I have signed up for have all been canceled due to lack of attendance. Most charter companies require a minimum of 5-6 divers to make a run, which seems out of reach in the NC/SC area. We have 4 divers signed up for the dive this week, and need 2 more to make it happen. I can arrange for transportation to and from Charleston, SC. if interested (just kick in a few $$ for gas). I also have a free place to stay in Wilmington if you can make the trip. We will probably leave Charleston sometime after 7 pm on Tuesday night, and should be back in town around 5 pm on Wednesday.

If you are interested, send me an e-mail at tadake@comcast.net and we can make arrangements. This did not start out as a spear fishing trip, but all divers are welcome. We will be working with the folks at Aqua Safaris, who have an excellent reputation. The cost of the trip is $105 per person, and we will have a DM along for the ride, since one of the participants is only basic OW. If we grab a few bugs during the two dives, well, that is just a bonus for us.

Looking forward to ANY response!

Looks like Aquatic Safaris is going to back out due to weather, and I am in the process of digging up another dive charter/operator willing to make a run. Might have found one, but will know more tomorrow.

Sept 23rd sounds interesting. More details please. I can’t escape work very often on the weekends, but I can justify a Friday dive without a problem. I do plan on diving with Spencer Slate on Sept 17th, for his “Tons of Steel” tour, down in Key Largo. Sounds like lots of fun, and that will be our 6th dip on the Spiegel Grove since early July. Call me a sucker for a big wreck.

Skeeter,

A group of us are coming down to dive the 24th of next month, I am trying to get something together for the 23rd if you are interested? Sort of unrelated... :D

But it is a weekday...

I can join you on the 24th. Jim Conner mentioned that a group might be using Cape Fear Divers that day. Is that you? Can you dive the 25th as well?

Hey Bill,

It seems the begging might be paying off... :D

Yup, I am with the group diving Saturday.

I appreciate the offer, I am hopeful we'll get enough people to make this happen...

I went out with both Jim and Aquatic Safaris a couple of weeks ago and it really is great diving... Both run first class operations, Jim has a nice big boat which makes for a smooth ride out.

Again, hope we can make this happen! A night dive would be really cool as well.
