I've had plantar fasciitis in both feet longer than I've been diving and I thought I might have to give it up. The thin, regular "booties" have zero arch support and the morning after a dive I could barely walk.
I finally found some boots that solved my problem and I can't say enough about Seasoft Sunrays. Very rugged sole so they're ideal for rocky entries (going to Bonaire this summer) but they also support my arch and prevent the fatigue and ache that I had come to think was something I'd just have to live with.
We dove a week in Cozumel just 4 weeks after I had plantar fascia release surgery and I had only minor aches in the evenings. Just ordered a 2nd pair as a backup and can't imagine wearing anything else.
I wear a ladies shoe size 8 and bought the Sunrays in size XS after being fitted in a dive shop. Oh, and I wear Atomic Split Fins - initially started diving with paddle fins (non-split) and the resistance was really hard on my arches - the split gives me the power without the extra resistance in the water.
