Hi Everyone!!

I am currently looking at buying my first BC and have tried on lots of different makes - Buddy,Cressi and Northern Diver. I have found that most are too long in the body and feel really bulky and uncomfortable. I then tried on the Seaquest Diva LX and this felt really good! I am seriously considering parting with my money for this one but would really appreciate any feedback from board members who may have some experience of this jacket. I was told by a die hard 'diving is really a man's sport' that the cut of ladies jackets means that some of the boyancy is lost???

Cheers!

I bought the Diva LX at the beginning of the summer and love it! I have done @70 dives with it and haven't had any issues. If it fits you good, I would highly recommend it. The only thing I dislike is that is doesn't compact very well, so it takes up a little more space when traveling than I'd like, but I can live with that.

Waterbaby,

I used a Diva LX during all my OW classes. I foun it very comfortable. As far ad s the bouyancy, I found that the Diva worked better for me than the others I tried.

I liked it so much that I ended up buying my own. I love it!!

Good luck and dive safe!!!

It fits her well, and is extremely functional. As for packing for traveling, try taking the integrated weight pockets out of the BC and packing them separately. I think you'll find that the BC compacts much more nicely.

DSAO!

Personally I use a Zeagle back inflate BC. Can you try it out before you buy it? That would be best.

I pack inside the BC. I'll open up the jacket and put stuff like my mask, lights, hairdryer - stuff that I dont want to get banged around too much!

I LOVE my Diva LX - My only complaint is pocket space and D rings. The two D rings on the bottom are a bit hard for me to reach but I've learned to live with that too!

I also have a Diva LX and love it! I'm ok with the number of D rings and do use one of the bottom ones...it isn't as pack able as some BC's....but I find it worth the inconvenience.

I don't know what your die hard is really speaking about....it's possible that what he said is true for a specific model of BC (I suppose anything's possible), but I don't see it as likely. BC's (men's or women's) all list what their lift capacity is....some are more than other's....in fact I think there's a difference of about 10lbs between the lift capacity of the Diva QD and the Diva LX...it just depends on what you will need.

Hmmm...what do I like about my BC....I like the fit first and foremost....none of the other BC's I tried fit as well. I also like that it's a hybrid...it has a wing on the back, but also has air cells in the front of the jacket...this makes it much more stable at the surface then a straight back inflate BC and you still get the advantage of a wing while at depth.

One thing I'd be sure of though is to get the new Sure-Lock weight integration instead of the Velcro. With somewhere between 100 - 150 dives with the BC, I'd have problems exactly twice with loosing a weight pocket...both times the pocket handle got caught on a line. The Velcro is coming off a little bit on the BC (not the pocket) and SeaQuest is going to fix that for me. So, even though it really hasn't been a huge issue for me....it's definitely something I'm always very aware of (watching lines while I'm diving, being very careful to not get sand or debris in the Velcro, etc...) and I'd prefer to have one less thing to be cautious over.

It's a very popular BC, I'm sure that if you did a search in this forum on Diva LX...you'd get a lot of information.

Peace,
Cathie

Thumbs Up for the Diva LX!

I started diving with a Zeagle Escape, but it just wasn't "it" for me, even with the customized sizing. My Diva fits like a glove and is cut short enough that I get a good fit and the waist and hips.

I have to agree with the "packability" of it. My Zeagle packed easier, but I've learned to work around it.

As far as lift, my Diva has 10# more than on my Zeagle.

But, like youve heard before...buy what fits YOU!

I made my daughter buy her own BC with some of her summer work money. She chose the Diva and likes it alot.

Cathie,

Did you got to your LDS or Seaquest directly to have this fixed? Thats something I think I may want to do - you are right, one less thing to really worry about!
