Chickens, cows, and fish suffer needless deaths all in the name of our digusting addiction to food.

Sorry, I can't possibly side with a terrorist group (Greenpeace). They ram ships and endanger human lives.

We all have differing opinions on this subject and no post is going to change anybody's mind. Let's just agree to disagree.

OH--in several native villages in Alaska, the annual whale hunt is what feeds the village. So in that rare case it is a understandable hunt.

I do believe that a majority of divers are environmentalists. We dive because whatever motivation we have drives us to the water. We all appreciate being there. These days there is alarming evidence to suggest that our collective impact on the ocean is greater and more insidious than anticipated. Higher levels of PCB are found in whale/fish flesh, glaciers in your area are shrinking, Walmart tries to build stores on aquifers etc. Whatever your environmental or political perspectives may be, I believe as stewards of this planet we have a personal responsibility to look out for the environment we cherish the most - the ocean and her denizens.

BTW. We can affect change. Thousands/millions of letters to Gorton's + a boycott of product will affect change. Nissui of Gloucester, MA will take notice once they see that sales are dropping off.

I'm sure they'll only harvest a few thousand of us, to scientifically deduce whether we are a sustainable species.
