My question is about Discover Scuba in southern California. I am aware that at least some shops only do the discover scuba in the pool and not in the ocean. Is that true of all (or at last most) shops in SoCal? I have seen shops in other parts of the world doing discover scuba in the ocean. My wife and I are certified and have been diving for 10 years, but I am working on the rest of the family. I am trying to find out for my son and grandson so that I will know what to tell them. Thank you for your replies in advance.

I believe the shops in Catalina still do their discover at Casino Point. Otherwise, there are not many predictably "pool-like" locations that would meet discover protocols.
