My wife did the Discover SCUBA in Maui in a standard pool at thr resort that has a 12' end. It still did not reveal her ear issues until we were in the ocean. I suspect your wife will do well in a pool and might have issue in colder water later.

DEMA had a pool for their "Be a Diver" campaign at the LA Times Travel show back in February which was at the LB Convention Center.
