I wanted to share one of my favorite place to scuba dive, Loreto Bay. Loreto is the perfect spot for a scuba diving vacation for many reasons. Loreto is a small fishing town in the Baja Mexico situated 227 miles north of La Paz. It is location on the Sea of Cortez which is a World Heritage site. The Sea of Cortez is home to 695 plant species and 89 190 fish species. This accounts for 39% of the world marine life. The best part is that it is protected from over fishing.

Loreto has scuba diving for all level from beginners to Diver Masters. There are five little islands in the Loreto Bay offering divers a vast amount of options including sand bottoms, sea mounds, walls and underwater caves. There are also 120 foot sunken freighter and a sunken twin engine plane off the Isla de Carmen Loreto for the more adventurous divers. Loreto offers great scuba diving year round but the best time is August to November. These months offer the best visibility as well as the warmest water.

Loreto has a great cultural vibe and is also a great location to sail, paddle board, fish, kayak and whale watch for those times when you are not diving, making it a complete vacation destination.
