I think the great thing about scuba is that it gets refreshed generationally...at least it has for now and expect it to continue to.
I look at some of the other hobbies and past times I am involved with and they are essentially on their way out as the Baby Boomer generation ages out and the newer generations are not interested (things like Benchrest Shooting for example).
Anyway, with new generations embracing scuba and SB being the de facto community, perhaps incorporating more real time communication forms, such as Discord channels would help ensure newer generations of divers continue to engage in the way that SB has provided for the Boomer & X generation.
Post X generations are just not as engaged with traditional forum/message boards.
