RTB needs a longer ticket counter.:D

All kidding aside, some people must have worked hard behind the scenes to make this happen.

It was only a matter of Dollars balancing against Yield Management.

For what airline$ charge for this flight, I'm surprised more haven't latched on over the years.

Roatanman is correct, It was more AA wanting a piece of the cake with gravy on top rather than anything Honduras or Roatan did. Also, They have been working for months expanding the airport.

AA needs to get their house in order before I'd consider booking a flight with them to someplace like RTB. If you only needed a direct flight like the OP then maybe. (Emphasis on maybe.) But right now there are a lot of people missing connections and finding entire flights cancelled, who are then left to struggle to get booked on a new flight. Combining that with an airline making one flight per week to a small island and you could easily lose a day or two of your vacation trying to navigate TACA through Central America.

The late arrival in MIA will mandate an overnight stop for a lot of travelers. But the $514 price tag from TUL is very attractive.

Edit: I spoke too soon about the price as it appears this new flight has started a price war. I can now get United for $503 and Delta for $506 on a route where prices have generally been running $850 to $1100 for the last year. And both of these flights have shorter travel times and no overnight. :D

I'm seeing AA fares that are $150 to $200 cheaper than Delta's fare. But the AA flights in both directions would be red-eyes, where the Delta flights (and United) are same-day.

Also I wouldn't want to fly through MIA with anything valuable in checked luggage if I didn't have to. (Has there ever been a more apt IATA code?)

OBTW, the United fares for me right now aren't competitive at all. They probably realize how crappy the AA flights are, so they aren't bothering to match the fares.
