I'm a contacts wearer also. -6.50's.
I used to worry about losing my lenses. I did when I first got certified. Did the don and doff with my eyes closed.
Then one time in the keys, I disturbed a very large sleeping nurse shark by trying to gently pull him out from a ledge for a better photo. Well the shark had no tolerance for my dumbassedness. He knocked my mask off, knocked my reg out, and broke the strap on my Aquashot. I found my reg no prob. I suddenly realized my eyes were wide open.
I mean WIDE OPEN.
I could barely see my mask sitting on the bottom. I put it on and cleared it, blinked a few times. Somehow both lenses were still there. I was happy. (Took a while but I finally realized I should be happy I still have my FACE. :eek_2: )
So, I don't worry about losing my lenses anymore. I keep an old pair of glasses sealed in a plastic bag in my bag. Plus boxes of lenses here and there and everywhere when I go on a trip. ( Wherever I go, I intend to see).
Thought about attaching my glasses somewhere on or in my BC (if I had to float and look for a distant boat) , but wearing glasses in water, as all of you know, is really counterproductive).
It would be far more important for the boat to see me.
