What SPG manufacturer do most DIR guys use? Also is a 7 foot primary hose too long for a single set up. I was thinking of getting 7 so it would be compatible with doubles, but for example Halcyon single tank hose kit is a 5 foot primary? Thanks

Using a seven or five foot hose is nothing to do with singles and doubles. A seven is considered the ideal for length for overhead environments so you can swin in single file while sharing. The 5 foot aimed at open ocean diving. I guess they call it a singles hose as you wont be diving a single cylinder in an overhead. The seven foot works great in the open ocean too, though. I use it on my single rig.

Not sure what brand of SPG but a brass one with no rubber boot or hose protector is prefered.

Thanks for the info nickjb. When using the 7 foot compared to the 5 foot, is it wrapped differently or worn the same?

They are worn in a similar way:

From the right side of the first stage, under the right arm, accross the chest, over the left shoulder and behind the neck.

The difference between the five and the seven is that the five sits tight under the right armpit, the seven is loose under the right arm and the excess is tucked under a light canister/knif/pocket or into the waist band of the harness. Some large people find the 5 a little tight and use a 6 rigged the same way.

I am thinking of getting myself a 5' hose as I use an Air2 as an alternate and hence have to give my primary when sharing air. Would anyone know a website where I can see a demo of how you give it efficiently with the long hose?
