Thanks. I think I'll get a 60lb then to cover all bases.

I'd go with a 50lb and then get a 60Lb later if you need one.

I have a 50lb Frog and that's a downgrade from the 60LB APEKs I used to have. It simply wasn't necessary to have the lift for the diving I was doing. I've used the 50lb with Twin 80's and 3 80s for stage bottles and I haven't found I been left wanting.
I don't know anyone who actually has a 60lb wing that I dive and they are a mix of T1 and Cave1 divers.

The inflator hose on HOG wings is pretty long. Atleast longer than the Halcyon, Oxycheq and DSS wings. Not sure if thats a DIR issue but I wont buy a HOG wing just for that reason. I think the power inflator is awkward to. I dont know why they dont use a standard one like everyone else.

Easy enough to replace with a shorter hose if that's your only issue with the wing,

What are you guys using for 60lb wings?

No point in a using 60 lb wing for Al80s or LP85s, just more room to trap air. I have a 40 lb Halcyon Evolve, and if I needed a bigger wing, I'd buy a 60 lb Evolve.

That is true. I could buy a new inflator hose for my new HOG wing. I have Halcyon which come out of the box ready though. Just my opinion. I use my 40lbs for AL80s and LP85s. 60lbs for everything larger.

I am not recommending this, but I was able to use a 40lb Evolve in Cave2 (single stage, O2) with LP104's jacked up. I was running a little gas in my drysuit (not a lot) at the beginning of the dive but once I dropped the O2 there was no issue at all. I did buy a 60lb wing right after class but the 40lb wing really wasn't as much of a problem as one might guess. I continued to dive the 40lb wing for quite a while (liked the profile) except for multi-stage dives until I lent it out to a friend who seems to have taken ownership of it :).

I've done that myself on an occasion or two. Its doable, but not great. 95s with the 40 is probably right at the upper limit of reasonable, 60lb is still way better.

I won't go with 60lb wing for double A80, LP85, or HP100 either, even if you carry one AL80 stage. Not that 60lb won't work or not allowed, it is just quite big. A 40lb-45lb wing will make you life easier.

From reading all the advice here, I guess I'll get the 50lb HOG wing first. If I need more lift later, then I'll get a 60lb.

I use an older HOG 38 lb with double LP72s. With an AL40 + AL80, SS plate and 16 lb of lead, it is perfect.

For my HP100s, I run an Apeks WTX6 (60 lb)...mainly because I will be using that setup for deep trimix stuff in the future. All those AL80s add up!

If you dive twin AL80s you could jump on the Diveaddicts deal for a hollis c45 wing.
Hose length is perfect. Only concern I have with it is you have to take the hose off the webbing retainer so it routes more to the center.

How is the retainer set up? What did you need to do to mod it?
