Bismarck, I have a suggestion . . . Just take her diving with DIR divers for six months or so. Don't say anything. (Making a trip to Monterey is a good move in the middle of this.) Then go to the Caribbean and let her watch other divers.

She'll come home and take Fundies.

Worked for me, anyway :)

I took DIR-F with Michael Kane and Brandon. Brandon is a fantastic educator. His explanations are great and his underwater demonstrations are quite impressive. He's what I would refer to as a great "technician."

I would highly recommend that anyone who has an opportunity to take a class with Brandon does so. You won't be disappointed.

I also took DIRF with MHK and Brando. Excellent instructors! You will not be disappointed.

I'm signed up for fundies with Brandon and Scot in June.

I've dove with them before (ok same lake and Brandon took vids of my so-caled diving - I'm definetly not saying I'm anywhere near their league) and can say they are absolutely fantastic, and very helpful with lots of good advice, letting me try out some different gear etc, and I'm really looking forward to the course.

Everyone I've talked with has highly recommended them.

I may be there doing my eval this June with Scot and B. Perhaps I'll see you there.

You mean you don't like Union Lake? :)

Love Union lake, but it doesn't seem to like me much as it keeps wanting me in a head down, out of control spin to the surface :)

What can I say I'm a true newbie to diving in general and DIR and still working on getting better. It's amazing how you don't realize how, um, inadequate as a diver one is until you go out and dive with some DIR divers.

Definetley an eye opener and it gives one something to strive for. I've been getting lots of help and encouragement from the Scuba Cult DIR 'rs who dive Union lake - absolutely great people to dive with.

Scuba...

Even though we aren't in Michigan, very often the airfare to the Florida Keys (Miami airport) is very affordable. We, at Silent World, do GUE-Fundies--with Mark Messersmith as the instructor. He does an EXCELLENT job!
