A Some LDS' have warmed up and started carrying UTD gear and are even sending off their staff to become UTD instructors.

My LDS was one of them. We even have Jeff coming to give a presentation on UTD and DIR diving. And its today :D

Who did that go?

I'm still fairly a pretty newb diver, but even I can see that, yes, non dir IS doing it wrong. Sure, other ways work, but it's by no means optimal.

So you're telling me I'm a stroke?

So what is the correct way to dive a cave where backmount does not fit? Just not dive it?

I just dive Sm when the cave requires it, back mount when it doesn't. I don't try to call it DIR. Unlike certain training agencies, I have no financial interest in throwing a DIR sticker on something that clearly doesn't fall in line with the philosophy we know as DIR.
