Most experienced divers will run up against NDL before air considerations.

I'd tend to disagree with this for recreational dives. Carrying Nitrox 40 to 70ft, I can do about 90 minutes staying within NDL. My SAC rate isn't bad, but that's an AWFUL lot more gas than I can stuff in an AL80, in fact, more than I can stuff into 2 AL80s if I reserve gas for safety.

The question becomes, Is DIR really a system compatible with all (most?) diving objectives?....from DIR perspective of course? they insist yes, right?
Most, not all. A lot of issues at the more techy end of things end up being more logistical type problems. Full compliance to DIR would mean not being able to do a lot of the dives that are out there in the world.

It all depends on our SAC Perrone.

Are you gonna tell me you can get 90 minutes on an AL80 at 70ft while leaving adequte reserve for your buddy, and emrgency gas for yourself?

I need your lungs!

Not me but I know lots of DMs, especially women who do. Mostly the people who dive everyday in say a resort setting. Very cold water I'm sure would make a big difference.

so, Dennis why are women's sac rates better? lower BMR? less skeletal muscle to feed O2? bigger brains?

oh, yea, I never dive squares. So, your deco is planned for your outside parameter? that would shorten my dive time, I can tell you that. (It might make me miss the whole thing.)

like what kind of dives do you mean?
