Hi, all..

Are there any negative consequences of taking Diphenhydramine HCI (OTC sleeping tablet) the night before diving. I usually have to take two 50mg tabs to make myself fall asleep, if my sleep schedule's gotten out of whack. I feel fine when wake up. Will this become an issue at depth if I take two(or more) 50mg tabs the night before diving?

Thanks!

Provided that one wakes feeling rested, alert and otherwise fit to dive, an occasional dose of diphenhydramine taken at a reasonable hour the night before a dive would not be anticipated to pose a significant risk for safe scuba.

And here's my non-medical idea:

Besides a nice beer at bed time... :D

If there is an AM radio in your room, try turning it on and to the end of the dial where there is no reception at all, just straight static. Turn it down low, and see if the "white noise" doesn't help you sleep.

If it doesn't, then turn it off.
