I recently converted my Apeks TX50 to DIN and I'm now in need of a converter to convert it back to yoke, so I'll be able to use it on yoke valved tanks. Can anyone recommend one? Or are they all practically the same? Some shorter than others and etc? I know Apeks makes one, but I've not found it anywhere other than Simplyscuba.com. Anyone know of somewhere else that has it?

Hi Warhammer

I have a DIN Poseidon Triton and bought a yoke converter to take to Mexico where all tanks have yoke valves.
I bought it in my local dive shop. I've checked it and found no brand on it, but it does work well, so I guess brand isn't that important when it fits well

Greg,
At the shop we have a catalog that has just what you are looking for. We use them to fill tanks that have DIN fittings so we can use the same whip. Will get you the name and the Web address by this time tomorrow.

Warhammer didnt you keep the original A-clamp since you said the reg was originaly yoke. Just use the original a-clamp. Or am i missing something?

I have a apeks din regs and a scuba pro din to yoke converter. The two function great together. As far as I know, the fittings are standard so any converter should work with any reg, either din to yoke or vice versa.

Ok, thanks guys.

Yes, I kept the original A-clamp, but swapping in and out would be a pain. With the adapter, it's painless.

I've found several including a Dive-Rite, ScubaPro, Zeagle, Apeks, and OMS. They all say they work on any DIN, but I wander. Some of them, the OMS one for example, are very short. I wander if those are only for the low pressure DIN. Then the Apeks is rather long.

Surely no DIN ADAPTER (not conversion kit) will only work to 232 BAR? Sorry warhammer i only know shops in the UK that will have them although you will probably have to phone them to order it. Let me know if you want the name of these shops , infact here ill put them below:
http://www.sdswatersports.co.uk
http://www.onlinescuba.co.uk
http://www.deepbluedive.com

These are the only the shops i can more or less gurantee that will be 100% trustworthy. WH May i ask why you dont just buy one from simplyscuba.co.uk? is it just the extra cost or..

The reason I don't want to buy one from SimplyScuba is because they list it at $33 and some change, then they want $44 and some change to ship it to me. Plus I'd likely have import fees on top of that. I've found some stateside, just not convinced they all work with all DINs and valves yet. I saw a post on another forum that said the Dive Rite one doesn't work on Genesis valves. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. I've even found one made by Zeagle that looks identical to the one Apeks makes (isn't that strange), but I'd rather have the shorter one like the OMS, if they'll work and cover all the threads on my reg. My local shop has said they are geeting some in, but as of yet they haven't.

And yes, there is 2 different types of DIN. 1 is 300 bar and has 7 threads, the other is 232 bar and has 5 threads. That's why I wander if the shorter adapters are for the 232 bar DIN.

I see WH. I have 300 bar DIN on my regs but my tank valves are 232 DIN. There is no problem attaching the 300 bar 7 thread to the 5 thread 232 bar tank valves and its common practise to do so. So yeh the shorter adapter ports are definately not for 300 bar , how could they be they are mounted on an A-clamp. So you i doubt you will find an adapter with 7 threads.

Hehe, your missing the point. I'm aware that the service pressure of yoke (A-clamp) is 232 bar and that if I attached an adapter to my 300 bar DIN, it's now only good to 232 bar when used with the adapter. What I want is an adapter that covers all the threads, not one that is good to 300 bar.

And yes, I know you can you can use a 300 bar DIN reg on a 232 bar DIN tank, so I'm sure the short adapters will work. But I want one that completely covers all the threads.
