it's going to be my first reg - atx200. i'm just not sure which one to choose din or yoke. could you help me on this?

thanks

I like DIN because its a more secure connection.

Do you already have tanks? Are the valves DIN?

I would recommend a DIN...unless you commonly dive with valves that are a yoke.

And a quick question...what makes you attracted to the atx200 over the 50....from what I understand there is very very minimal difference for such a huge price jack.

DIN for home, Yoke for "can-not-take-my-tanks-with-me" destinations...

PS When I said "Both" I did not mean two regulators, just two fittings: DIN and Yoke. They can be swapped easily.

If you are going to travel to resort places and rent tanks, then definitely go yoke.

If you are going to get your own tanks, get DIN valves and DIN regulators --- a much better system.

Get the DIN and if you travel where you may run into yoke valves on tanks, get a DIN to yoke adapter, they are pretty cheap.

DIN is a better system, but in 250 dives I have yet to use a DIN tank. So a DIN to yoke adaptor would just be an additonal failure point.

Not to argue with you but, I don't see how it could be anymore of a failure point than a yoke connection would already be, since with a DIN to yoke adapter you just screw the adapter onto the DIN connection on your first stage.
This is what I was talking about using, in case we aren't on the same page of thought. http://www.scubastore.com/shop.asp?id_familia=11&id_subfamilia=39 You gotta scroll down, it wouldn't directly link to it, but is the aqualung DIN/Yoke converter.

So since he is in Russia, what is the most common valve type over there and in Europe (legit question, I really don't know)?

Adapters are bulky and represent an additional failure point...
Fittings can be quickly and easily swapped when needed, but can be pricey. I’ve seen DIN fittings sold at a local shop for $60…
Fortunately, got mine free with a reg purchase, did not order, but it came as a “we are sorry for the delay in shipping” gesture.
