Does anyone have any experience with the digital depth/gas gauge ?
Looking to change from a my massive brick of a triple console to something smaller.
Side question do I need a depth gauge if I’m using my computer for that ?
Can I just have an air gauge on its own. ?
Cheers guys.

I would just get a simple brass and glass analog SPG. I guess that should set you back less than $100; I think I spent CAD100 last time I replaced mine. As you say the depth gauge is not that useful if you are using a computer. You may also want compass clipped to your BC or on your wrist.

Yep I have a hand mount compass 👌

Cressi makes a very nice combo gauge, but expensive.

No

Yes. Simple, not expensive.

Most streamlined would be a transmitter sending tank pressure to an Air Integrated (AI) capable computer. If you don't have such a computer (and don't want to sell yours and buy one), then I'd suggest a simple brass & glass SPG with a boltsnap attached to enable clipping to your hip D-ring.

I think most of us on here have dumped the console (if we ever used one) for a wrist mounted computer. We get the tank pressure either from a transmitter that screws into an HP port on your regulator and wirelessly connects to the wrist computer or from an SPG on a hose that is clipped off to the left hip d-ring (or occasionally a chest d-ring).

The transmitter option requires a compatible computer, so you'll need to buy both. If you want to save some money and have a puck size computer in your console, you can probably remove it and put it in a wrist boot. You could do the same with the SPG, but the ones in a console are usually made of plastic and need the console for protection. It's better to replace that with a proper brass and glass SPG.

Here's how you use the clipped off SPG.

@Blackcrusader uses this and frequently posts about it.

Open up your console and see what magic you have inside, all SPGs are easily useable without a console

Check it out, see how you like it

With a little research you could convert this
