I would love to have every diver around me be a Rescue Diver:)

One of the things we talk about in the Instructor Development Course is that many people want to take specialties or other continuing education classes but most don't. What is the reason? Many times it is because they are not offered or they are not made aware of the opportunities to take the classes. It is the responsibility of the dive shop or the instructor to nurture that new diver by offering further diving opportunities.

I can only refer to PADI, but I have had difficulties getting courses at times also. The literature adversises to take this course and that one, but doesn't say that it all depends on there being enough students for a class, an instructor being available, student's schedules, and of course weather (can't help that). It's not as easy as just going and taking the course.

Our shop has always tried to be flexible with continuing education courses. For instance, we will take one person in a class. Of course, we HOPE to add to the class:) Usually it is only because we are completely booked up or the weather gets us that we won't teach a specialty or continuing education.
