Different ways to view threads
FAQ Key Concept
As we see ScubaBoard; forum categories contain forums, forums contain threads, and threads contain posts. But our cloud computer servers see it all differently.
All the "content" (data) on ScubaBoard is stored in a large and complex database. The xenForo software displays that "data" to members in "views" that are useful to readers. Unlike a more static data storage format like a spreadsheet, database programs allow looking at data from a nearly limitless number of views.
Tools to Modify Thread and Post Views
- The type of content the view applies to. It might be threads, posts, media (images) and/or resources.
- Pre-defined commonly used views or data.
- Applies to posts. The system keeps track of posts you have read (opened technically)
- Additional "Filters" (selection criteria) available.
- A common modifier to the selection criteria.
Most Common Views
You can see ScubaBoard's Forums list by clicking on the Forum tab near the top of most pages.New posts is the same view as the one under the What's new tab.
Filters
Filters change the selection criteria for various standard views in ScubaBoard. The following examples are the most commonly used, but is not an complete list.Filter by Thread Prefix
You can limit your view of threads to those with a certain title prefix. This example shows all Trip Reports in the Greater Caribbean & Bermuda forum, but it works in any forum and any title prefix. Just click on the title prefix flag.Note that the thread prefix is automatically added to the filter list. Thanks to @scubadada for sharing this tip.
