Difference between tec and rec fundies cards?

(in a more serious vein, I was under the impression that the rec pass allows you to show your card to do a dive, while a tec pass is basically a green light to go ahead with more intensive training. And that it's not the card that matters since they do have your file, but rather your status.)

Rec pass entitles you to take Rec Triox, rather than continuing to Tech 1. It also includes a Nitrox cert, if you've taken it since they added this to the course.

Tech pass entitles you to take Tech 1 or Cave 1. Or Rec Triox, I suppose.

The card itself is indeed irrelevant except perhaps for the Nitrox cert it carries. No one is going to check the card.

Depends on how much time has passed (and the instructor's opinion), but generally you just retest with doubles and a can light. There might be some costs involved, however, especially if you had to travel to your class, or pay to bring the instructor to you.

No you don't have to retake the class, upgrading from Rec to Tech Fundies pass if you had already taken the course with the required kit requirments just involves a check dive with your instructor to ensure you have met the required bar.
