Just as Diet Coke is a shallow substitute for Diet Pepsi, and Dasani is gutter water to AquaFina's necter of life, this too will doubtless suck.

Coke doesn't get it. They are the leader because of their savvy marketing and not remotely due to the taste of their product. I give them the marketing awards, I esteem them nothing for complete line of drek beverages.

How do I really feel about anything Coke-like? I could go on for days. They Coke blows...

Coke is the world wide leader because it tastes GOOD and people like it. Ads and Dist. network don't hurt either. COKE is wicked good :11ztongue

Pepsi and___________, I don't know. Maybe MJ with his head on fire?

I go back and forth between the 2, while Dr Pepper is my fav. C2 sounds like a great idea. As someone said it above, its how much you drink, not whats in it. Im going to drink soda regardless, so if it tastes the same might as well go with the half calories. I tend to prefer Pepsi over Coke, because of Britney though. Bah bah bop bah bah, the taste of pepsi.

Truthfully, I don't think I'll ever be a big soda drinker....I got out of the habit when I was a teenager and now it all just tastes a bit funny to me. The only time I really want a cola type beverage (don't much care which brand) is when I have some pizza. I just can't drink anything else with Pizza :)

But I'm curious if this new Coke product is still using nutrasweet as a sweetner or if they've moved to Splenda?

I'm very allergic to nutrasweet and can't stand sacharin....so I've been very excited about Splenda....plus, in MHO, it just tastes better than the other two.

Peace,
Cathie

Its Splenda. And also, I saw Pepsi is coming out with a clone too, though not sure who is cloning who. Pesi Edge! Splenda derived too. Any idea whether this causes cancer like everything else?

Generally they don't discover that it causes cancer for a few years after it's released ;)

Supposedly, Splenda's actually made from sugar (they just monkey around with it molecularly I think).

I generally drink water.....but if I feel like I want something with a flavor....I make some lemonade using Splenda instead of sugar.

Peace,
Cathie

Splenda, aka sucralose, is made by replacing three carbon atoms in sugar with chlorine atoms. The theory is it's safe because your body doesn't absorb it, however various studies proved otherwise. Most of it that does get absorbed is metabolized and sent out the kidneys, but a small percentage converts into various untested chlorinated-saccharides.

So there. No better or worst than aspartame (Nutrasweet). Heck, try googling Aspartame and Rumsfeld sometime. Not trying to cause a political flame war, but there is some serious bad voodoo in the artificial sweetener business, and I'm not talking about the medical aspects here.

Ok, in the end, I drink diet soda occasionally, but drinking gobs of it everyday probably adds up to sometime bad.

Well still better for me than Nutrasweet.....it doesn't give me hives and make my face swell up to twice it's size :)

I don't use it much....maybe twice a week.

Peace,
Cathie
