I grew up in a coastal Connecticut town. I was always a water rat, Red Cross Jr. and Sr. Lifesaver and eventually Water Safety Instructor in college. Certified in 1971 NAUI OW at age 16. I bought my gear with my paper route money, and rode the gear home on my 10 speed (also purchased with my own money), tank included. Dove until '74 then due to a non-diving spouse and military career didn't dive again until September 2011. Re-certified through PADI, currently a Divemaster Trainee. Why didn't I divorce that landlubber earlier?
