Had three attach to me personally and witnessed a few other incidents. If you go vertical in the water it seems to confuse them and they back off a bit until you go horizontal again!

In the encounter I described above, I and my buddy were vertical the whole time at our safety stop and the thing ust kept circling and coming in at us.

I must admit, it seemed much more enamored with me. I was the larger of the two people. That is really not a pleasent thought.

Don't take it personally. It's just his instinct to look for the largest host possible after outgrowing and abandoning the last one. ;)

happened to me several times but unfortunately i couldnt identify the fish, some can be really welcoming while some are darn annoying.

I've had a couple follow me and one attach it's self to my leg. Very weird feeling but I just brushed it off. Don't know if it can get a good grip on a wet suit.
Some time later we were fishing and caught a small one, about 10", and my buddy put his hand on the sucker plate on top of its head and spent the next 30 seconds dancing around the boat deck trying to get it off! I thought it was funny but he didn't.............
