My Shearwater AI transmitter is the old model that isn't supposed to be screwed in by hand, yet I stupidly did so as I didn't have a low profile wrench and didn't realize that I wasn't supposed to do it until it was done. What are the chances that I damaged it? The manufacturer states that hand tightening will stress the outer body of the unit. Unfortunately I don't have a tank to test it on at the moment.

Thanks

I’ve tightened and loosened mine by hand multiple times. Work just fine. Don’t worry
Oh thank you! What a relief. I also put a slight chip in my brand new MK17 first stage with a wrench. Hopefully it's just cosmetic and won't corrode when in the water. Live and learn I guess.

It will be fine :)

Unless you heard a noise like plastic cracking, you should be fine. I always hand screw it snug, then tighten down a little with a wrench afterward. It usually doesn't move much, if at all. So hand tightening should be fine.
