I just finished listening to the latest episode (44) of Pod Diver Radio and Joe Cocozza made some interesting comments regarding DIR and GUE. Evidently, he has been trying to get an interview with GUE for quite some time, but has never had any luck with getting them to return his calls or e-mails. He indicated that he just wanted to do a 10-15 minute interview where they could explain the DIR philosophy and what GUE does.

You could tell he was frustrated when he called DIR the "Amway" of diving. I have to say that I found that pretty amusing. Nothing against DIR or GUE, as I would like to try DIR-F someday, but that description was classic.

He may have said it to goad them into responding, or it may indicate a biased point of view and why they are not willing to respond.

If he actually said that, they would be foolish now to accept the "invitation."

Considering that he has given them ample opportunity to respond, I think this was his way of saying, "Thanks, but no thanks." Joe runs a very unbiased show and has interviewed people from a variety of agencies. He really leaves his opinion at the door. The show focuses on tech diving, so you would think the folks at GUE would see his audience as a natural fit. However, GUE seems to take a "stealth" approach to marketing, so maybe it is their policy to decline interviews.

Not that I've heard the latest epsiode...but I would imagine everything has to clear Jablonski. I imagine George would probably be a pretty good interview.

You'd think so, that this was a reasonable fit, but then:

doesn't exactly sound unbiased and with opinion left at the door.

So, maybe "Amway-like" is not such an inaccurate representation.;)

That's a good way to bring the matter to the attention of GUE and simultaneously conclusively demonstrate Joe's unbiased and completely objective perspective. I suspect that 'classic description' would pursuade GUE to sit right down at the table and discuss the matter further at great length. After all, over the past three or four years there has never been any situation where an unbiased and completely objective interviewer blindsides GUE with a bucketful of strokaphilic spewage following a rational and completely objective dialog. I can't imagine why Jarrod would want to avoid hanging it all out there on a public podcast...

I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

This thread definitely has potential...

If someone would just hit the fire with some 100% O2 it might really explode...

(Doc seems to have just thrown a cupfull of gasoline on it, but i'm not sure its really caught yet...)

Doc: I almost detected a hint of sarcasm in you post!:11:
