I am trying to decide which of these two lights to buy as a "primary for mostly day diving in the PNW. I will sometimes be night diving as well but for that I plan to acquire a smaller light for backup preferably that also takes a 21700 battery. I can get the D710 for 150 with two batteries and the DGX is 90 with one battery. What do you guys think?

I don’t have direct experience with the 710, but I do have a DGX 1000-6 and I’ve used it extensively as a primary around the PNW. It’s a great light and I’d have no hesitation using it. If you want to save a little money, the Sofirn SD06 has (in my opinion) a better beam and it’s a little smaller, and also cheaper.
