Has anyone tried the DGE BP/W? Its the BP/Wings for doubles. Opinions are appreciated.
I'm comparing this to the light monkey one right now.

Thanks

it's a standard cheap backplate, most of them are all the same. If you are in the normal size variant that these plates are designed for, they're literally all about the same. webbing spacing is all standardized for where the slot holes are, same with the bolt holes, so you can take that plate next to a Halcyon plate and I'd be shocked to see if anyone could tell the difference when it is on your back.

I talked to DGX about that doubles wing last year. It is my understanding that it is essentially the same wing as the Dive Rite Rec EXP wing, just with a solid center panel, instead of the open/webbing center of the DR, and without the bungees that come on the DR wing.

I was going to buy the DGX wing but then they had one of the actual DR wings in the Bargain Annex for even less money than the DGX wing, so I bought the DR. I have been totally happy with the DR wing. I took the bungees off immediately and have never used them. I have no trouble getting good trim with it and it is nice and streamlined. I had a Halcyon Explorer 55 and could never get good trim with it (which is why I sold it). I have an OMS 60 and I have no trouble getting good trim with that one, either, but it is much bigger/less streamlined.

At $299 for the whole package (or $309 w/a SS plate), I think it would be very hard to beat anywhere else.

IF you are "off the shelf" in sizing, absolutely a great choice. If you are outside the norm, DSS...

Thank you StuartV. I did not realize you can take the Bungees off.

I think then that the Wings are high quality. I have a Halcyon Double wing that is not a donut but more like a crossaint. It used to be "DIR" but now it is not. I'm not really hung up on DIR or not but don't really like bungees as I think they can get snared. Are the wings double bladders?

What's not dir about it?

I've been told by a GUE Diver that because the air cell does not complete a continuous loop, it's not kosher.

I think DR has a dual bladder version of their wing, but I do not think DGX has a dual bladder.
