I don't scuba and I have snorkeled at the jetties many times over the years. My big vacation to Destin is usually in June, so this is the time of year I know best. One of the interesting things is how much things vary from year to year. A couple of years ago, there were hardly any wrasse except for a few small juveniles. One year, arrow crabs were everywhere, and another year razorfish were quite common. Pinfish, cocoa damselfish, gray snappers, belted sandfish, and toadfish seem to always be common in June, and slippery dick wrasse except for that one year. Also, if you dive down to 15-20 ft, there are almost always big schools of pigfish (a grunt).
I've never seen any chromis at the jetties. Maybe they live offshore.
I hope the fish show up by the time I get to Destin on June 15 and the oil doesn't!
