Seayoda, Photohikedive, Knight1989 (+ a friend of his), myself and the "anonymous Scubaboard member" all met for a tank or two at the Destin Jetties today.

We had two great dives (for those who stayed for both dives) in perfect emerald blue water. Water temps were 75f on the bottom.

Dive 1 - 57 minutes, 54ft max
Dive 2 - 1 hr 3 minutes 54 ft max.

Lots of crabs and other small fish, but nothing more than a normal day at the jetties. Interestings sight upon arrival was 4 people diveing out a "bass boat".

All told, we had a great day diving. Pics below. Seayoda took some pics too which I expect we'll see soon.

SeaYoda, kchFLA, Photohikedive, etc are all meeting Saturday also for a dive there. (high tide at 10:12am).

Did you notice the sandperch near my head in that picture? Those guys were like gnats. I must have been wearing the right perfume or something - I had to swat at them several times. At least they weren't as nasty as the wrasse who pop a bite on my earlobe when they can.

I have good news and bad news. First the bad, my strobe flooded and I'm doing everything to make it better. I may know by tomorrow. The good news is that after several months and 3 other "technicians", my inflator was fixed in 20 minutes flat by Steve at ScubaTech. If you need work on something while you're in this area, Steve is DA' - MAN !!!!

I thought the viz was better today than last week. It may have been due to the sunny skies overhead and an earlier dive time. It was very bright down there, good thing since my strobe was gone :D.

Here are some of my shots:

What was the visibility like?

Looks like some great conditions, I was at work :( Atleast we had a crawfish boil.

What was the visibility like? ...
I gave last week's dive 40' with a silty look. Today's first dive I'd give 50' with the same silty haze. The viz on the second dive was about the same as last week's.

Oh man......sweet vis......jealous!

Is that a new style mask with the black bar tinting across the front in the first pic?? LOL Too funny....:14:

The water was nice and warm also. about 75f.

The wind was 'whippin' tonight though. We didn't get cold until our heads broke the surface and got hit by the wind.

Awesome pics SeaYoda. I wish mine would come out that good.

As for fish biting his ear, I saw a crab go "crabbing" sideways in the water and it ended up on SeaYoda's shoulder. He had to "shoo" it off and I thought it would bite him on the ear.

The crab grab needs to be HERE. I couldn't hardly move without one of those things skittering under or around me. At one point I was trying to get a shot of a filefish and one of those clawed buggers gave me a quick pinch on the elbow. I guess I got too close to HIS rock. We need to thin this population in a bad way :D.

June Crab Grab 2006? LOL Import some Destin crabs to Gulf Shores, its legal according to PW's rules!
