There was an afternoon high tide today so I spent a leisurely day cleaning the O rings on the camera housing and collecting the gear for the dive today. I got through some traffic and to the jetty parking area to find a long row of cars parked in all my good spaces. I saw jviehe (yes he does exist and will dive with us non-cavedwelling-panhandlers ) as I drove by in search of a spot to land. I ended up doing my famous slanted back in between two parallel parked cars in order to get close to the entry. The grass cutters were very impressed with my parking skill. I told them that I've had practice . JV and I were gearing up as photohikedive and MDB (aka: smack) drove by looking for a place to park. Knight1989 had taken his family and gear down to the water and we met up with him there. When we all got to the jetty, we started the dive. Immediately we were greeted with a snotstorm of June grass that would stay with us for the whole dive. The viz without said snot was about 20', with snot it varied between 10' to 15'. Water temperature at 50' was 73 degrees. The fish I could see were the same as the last few dives. We went around the point and the current pushed against us in places and pushed us out in others. The June grass got so thick that I went West of the anchor and then realized I had missed it and turned around and headed Northeast. I found the submerged buoy and figured out where I was and made my way to the anchor. We turned the dive and floated in back around the point. I had 1000 lbs left in my tank so we played around the iron box for a while. I practiced blowing ring bubbles and took snotty sunburst pictures while PHD did a mask off drill and others explored the rocks. We ended the dive and did the walk back to the car. Knight went back to the beach with his family while the rest of us went to The Back Porch for some dinner and chat. After dinner we parted ways - another good day of diving done. Here are the SNOTTY pictures (look for Munch's lack of tail in the spadefish pic - he's in a school now!) :
