High tide was at 09:52 today and I got in the water about 09:45. The sand on the beach was a little easier to walk on due to the rain yesterday. I was a little worried about what the viz would be like due to those same storms. As I entered the water, there was one snorkeler and a few sunbathers on the beach. The water felt a little cooler than the last time I dove. The viz upon descent was the best I would have for the dive, it started at about 15' and dropped to 10' as I reached a depth of 30' on the North side of the finger jetty. There were lots of particles in the water and the June Grass has arrived. I stayed around the metal box the whole dive since viz was so poor. The temperature at 30' was still just 69 degrees. Near the metal box, a large spade fish was hanging out. I tried to get some good pics but my strobe cable was acting up. There must have been something wrong with this fish because he never attempted to swim away - I even scratched his side with my hand twice. He finally swam away but he was a little slanted as he slowly finned away from me. There were more small fish out today. The usual pinfish, wrasse, toadfish, baitfish, and crabs. There were a few adult damsels and I saw a couple pearly razorfish. At the end of the dive I was joined by 3 divers on their way in as I was on my way out. As I surfaced, I saw the Aquanaut (Emerald Coast Scuba's boat). They said the divers I saw were in class. I went off to ScubaTech for air fills and on to the house for the clean-up. It wasn't the best dive in my history but any dive is better than no dive at all .
