superbeetleman, JLayman, and I went out to the Destin Jeddies to get a dive in before the big swirly thing heading our way gets to close. Conditions were great, there was some surf on the unprotected side of the jeddies, but we stayed on the North side of both jeddies during our two dives. Visibility ranged from 15-25' depending on your location and there quite a few fish swimming around. I spotted the resident sea turtle again, but it wasn't anywhere near close enough for the camera to get into view so again no pictures of it. I also saw a yellow tang, but camera problems prevented us from getting pictures of it as well(we ended up with 0 pics from the first dive and over 60 for the second). Josh Timmons manned the camera on this dive and here are the best of what he took http://www.suprbugman.com/gallery/album19 . There were several flounder, small snapper, decent grouper, pin fish, spades, doctorfish, cowfish, wrasse, damsels, blennies, small AJs, butterflyfish, stone crabs, a few jellies(no stings!) were some of what we say underneath the surface. There were a dozen or less divers and about the same amount of snorkelers, which is far less than a few months ago during the prime summer season. All in all, we had an excellent time and hopefully it'll hold us until we can get back into the water again.

Could you ask yoru buddy if I could use some of his pics on my website? They lookd good.

Thanks for the report and pictures. Can't wait till Ivan is over!

Ditto that.

Already cancelled my weekday night dive and I'm not going to get my hopes up for this weekend... :(

Parking is limited.

Starting where the walkway to the jeddies, there is parking on the opposite side of the road. Just a gravel shoulder basically, that extends all the way down to the public beach at the end of the road which is probably 1/2mile.

Fascilities are almost non-existant. No restroom(not even a port-a-john), but they do have a single shower head on a post at the head of the trail.

No parking fees :)

Great, forgot about that. Excellent work, and Ill just link to it. THanks.

Thanks for collecting this information. It is really needed for people new to the area.

The bug man has some nice photos of Vortex Springs, too. They would make a nice addition to your page. http://www.suprbugman.com/gallery/album11 There is some information on Vortex at http://www.underwaterflorida.homestead.com/vortex.html

Also, MBT Divers has a lot of information about off-shore dives located at http://www.mbtdivers.com/divesites.htm

and http://www.mbtdivers.com/NUMBERSH.htm
