If you can get it to work, how you going to keep someone from stealing it?

Gary D.

What will be the mechanism to offset surface winds and currents????

This sounds like an absolute waste of time.
Firstly you'd have to carry some sort of transmitter with you, with all the problems of waterproofing it and powering it.
You mention GPS. Why GPS? Even assuming that you carried a GPS which wouldn't work at any great depth, you'd still have to transmit your position to the buoy which would then have to be equipped with a second GPS. So why not just make the transmitter you carry serve as a homing beacon for the buoy?
Then the buoy would have to be self powered and capable of speed & directional control even in rough weather and high winds.
Carry equipment? What sort of equipment?
This sounds like it would rapidly turn into a large buoy.

Honestly, it sounds like a solution in search of a problem. If I really wanted a buoy or float to follow me around, I would probably *prefer* a simple solution (like a reel and line) to this type of gizmo - even without considering the cost. What is the perceived need to explain this kind of invention?

Hi ABSTAR-15;

If you’re trolling you got some nibbles.

If you’re serious please don’t take us serious. You just struck a note that got a few of us going.

Just because we think your idea useless doesn’t mean it is. It might not be a good idea for divers but there might be hundreds of applications for it out there. Like fish farms and giving us material to joke about.

Again, if your serious I don’t want to discourage you from using the gray matter to add to your mark to technological world we live in.

If your trolling your line is going to break before you get anyone into the “BOAT”. hehehe
