It is with great sadness that I learned tonight of the passing of Dennis Divins, the retired Diving Saftey Officer from the University of California, Santa Barbara. For decades, Dennis was a tireless advocate for the UCSB diving program and a fixture in the Scientific Diving and the Southern California Diving communities. He was a great mentor, a very good friend, and a hell of a waterman. I learned a lot from Dennis and will miss him.

Sorry to hear this. Dennis was a leader in the field of Scientific Diving. He will be missed by this community. My condolences to his family.

I got my MA and PhD at UCSB. My condolences to his family and friends.

Good gosh! Denny!

Knew him well for so many years --Then he retired and moved to Northern California never to be heard from again.
He was a huge asset to the program that produced so many great divers.
